CPSC compliance finder FAQs
Does this tool certify my product as CPSC compliant?
No. The finder gives a preliminary first-pass screening based on your answers. It is not a CPC, a GCC, a laboratory test, a legal opinion, or CPSC approval, and it cannot replace product-specific testing.
Do I need an account to use the free CPSC finder?
No. You can complete the screening and read the full report without an account. A free account is only needed to save the report to your panel, email yourself a copy, and request a product-specific review.
How much does a CPSC review cost?
The account and the screening are free. Professional work is quoted before it starts: a single-product certificate pack (CPC or GCC plus eFiling data set) starts at $450 with a 48-hour turnaround, and unblocking a listing or held shipment starts at $1,500. You approve the written quote before paying.
How is the free report generated?
A deterministic rules engine maps your answers to CPSC certificate-list categories and rule areas using a versioned catalog, with official CPSC sources linked on every finding. The engine applies documented rules — it does not use AI to interpret the law and it never issues a compliance guarantee.
What documents does the screener ask about?
Four groups: test reports or a testing plan, a product-specific CPC or GCC if a certificate is required, a current bill of materials or component list, and product, package, and warning-label artwork. Missing groups appear in the report as documents to gather.
What is CPSC eFiling and does it affect my imports?
For most imported finished products that require CPSC certification, certificate data must be filed electronically with the entry. The general requirement has been in force since July 8, 2026, and Foreign-Trade Zone entries follow on January 8, 2027. The screening flags eFiling whenever you say the product is imported.
Is my product information stored when I use the finder?
Not from the public finder alone: the report is generated for you and is only saved when you create a free account and choose to save it. Saved screenings live in your company panel and can be deleted at any time. See the privacy policy for details.
What happens after I request a review?
M&Z reviews the screening, confirms the scope with you if needed, and sends a written quote, typically within one business day. Work starts only after you approve the quote, and the case, documents, and deliverables are tracked in your customer panel.
